Use Multi-Input nodes to ask end users to submit multiple types of responses on one screen. You can display all sub-inputs at once or show certain sub-inputs conditionally based on end user responses. For example, you can use Multi-Input nodes to build forms.
Configure a Multi-Input node
To configure a Multi-Input node with different sub-inputs, proceed as follows:
- Create a new input node, then choose Multi-Input as the answer type.
- Configure the first input (A), see Configure sub-inputs below.
- Select Add input (B) at the bottom of the panel to add another sub-input. Alternatively, you can duplicate an existing sub-input and modify it. To do so, click the three dot icon (5) and then Duplicate.
-
Collapse and uncollapse (C) individual sub-inputs:
- Click the icon left of the Input node type to collapse a sub-input, or
- click the icon to uncollapse.
- Use the six dot icon (D) and drag the collapsed sub-inputs to rearrange the order.
You can also collapse all sub-inputs at once: click the icon (4) between the content field and the sub-inputs. - On the Multi-Input node level, you have two configuration options available: Allow multiple responses (E), which creates a collection with multiple fields, and Document View (F).
To delete an input, click the three dot icon (5) and then Delete input.
Configure sub-inputs
To configure the sub-inputs of a Multi-Input node, proceed as follows:
- You can choose any input node type for your sub-input. To change the sub-input type (1), click the field next to the node name. By default, the input type is set to SINGLE SELECT.
- Based on your selected input node type, the general and type-specific configuration options (2) will display.
- In addition to the configuration options, the sub-inputs will display the option Show conditionally (3).
- Collapse all sub-inputs by clicking the icon.
- You can duplicate and delete sub-inputs. Find the options by accessing the three dot icon [] (5) context menu right of the sub-inputs node label.
Show sub-inputs based on end user responses
By default, all sub-inputs of a Multi-Input node display immediately. However, you can activate the Show conditionally (3) switch to display certain sub-inputs based on a previous end user response.
For example, ask the end user if they would like to receive an email confirmation if they have provided their email address (see above (3)).
Reference sub-inputs
- While you cannot reference the entire Multi-Input, you can reference an individual sub-input to display its value. When referencing, first select the Multi-Input node, then choose the variable of the value you would like to display.
- To auto-map Multi-Input nodes to template placeholders when automatically generating a document, use the following structure: {{Multi-Input name —> Sub-input name}}, e.g., {{Request form —> Full name}}.
