Once your documents are uploaded and added to the grid, you can start configuring query columns to extract structured data from your documents. Each column represents a specific question you want BEAMON to answer, such as identifying termination dates, payment amounts, or whether a specific clause is present.
Add a New Column
To create a new column:
- Go to the Grid tab of your project.
- Click + Add column at the top of the grid or in your grid table.
- In the modal:
- Enter a Column title to name the output (e.g., Termination Date).
- Enter your Question, this is the query the AI will run over each document.
- Select an Answer format (see below for details).
- Click Create to add the column to your grid.
You can later refine the query if the results need adjusting.
Answer Formats Explained
Each column must have an Answer format selected. This controls how the output appears in the grid:
| Format | Description |
|---|---|
| Answer | Free text answer generated by the AI |
| Yes / No | Displays ✅ (Yes), ❌ (No), or -- if unclear |
| Date | Extracts a single date (format: MM/DD/YYYY) |
| Date range | Extracts a date range (format: MM/DD/YYYY – MM/DD/YYYY) |
| Extract Clause | Displays the full clause matching the query |
| Number | Outputs numerical values |
You can change the date or number format later in your Excel export or within the BRYTER Platform.
Edit or Delete a Column
To edit or remove a column
- Click the three-dot icon in the column header:
- Select Edit column to change the title, question, or answer format
- Select Delete column to remove it from the grid
View and Review Extracted Data
Once your column is added, the AI will extract results for all documents in your grid.
To review a specific answer:
- Click on the extracted output field in the grid.
- A side modal opens, showing:
- The extracted data point
- A document view with purple-highlighted references
- Navigation to zoom or jump to referenced content
- An Edit button and a shortcut to Open Details View (for full review)
Each reference is clickable and shows exactly where in the document the AI found the answer.
Reference highlights span multiple lines to provide context, ensuring you always review slightly before and after the relevant part.
What’s Next?
Once you’ve added your queries, head to the Review view to go through each answer, confirm results, and finalize your dataset.
