Upload, organize, and manage the files that power your AI project on the Documents page. Uploaded documents are automatically processed to extract key metadata like type, signature date, and a summary.
You can also create document bundles by adding amendments to existing documents.
- Upload Documents
- Organize Documents
- Search and Sort Documents
- View and Manage Document Details
- Create Document Bundles
Upload Documents
You can access the Documents page from the sidebar of an existing one or right after creating a new project.
From an existing project:
- Open your project and navigate to the Documents tab in the sidebar.
- Use Upload document to add new files or New folder to structure them.
Uploaded files are immediately processed. You’ll see a document type, signature date (if detected), and an AI-generated summary once the upload finishes.
From a new project:
- Click New Project from the dashboard.
- Enter a Project title and optional Project description.
- Click Create — this takes you directly to the Documents view.
- Upload files by clicking Upload document or organizing them first using New folder.
Supported file formats
- PDF, DOCX
OCR is automatically applied to image-based or scanned documents. If your file has already been OCR’ed, Extract will use the existing text. It won’t be processed again.
Organize Documents
You can use folders to structure your document library:
- Click New folder to create a folder
- Use the three-dot menu next to a folder to:
- Rename the folder
- Delete the folder content, including all documents inside
- Inside a folder, you can upload additional documents
For individual documents, the three-dot menu allows you to:
- Download
- Delete contract
Search and Sort Documents
-
Use the search bar to find files or folders by name
Search is limited to the top-level view and does not search inside folders unless used within a folder
-
Use the Sort dropdown to:
- Sort documents by Title (A to Z) (default)
- Sort by Oldest first or Newest first
View and Manage Document Details
Click on a document to open its Details view, where you can:
- See the file name, signature date, document type, and AI-generated summary
- Edit the signature date by clicking on it
- View a document preview on the right-hand side
- Upload amendments to create a document bundle
Create Document Bundles
If your document has one or more amendments, you can upload them to create a document bundle.
To add an amendment:
- Open the Details view of the main contract.
- Click Upload amendment.
- Once uploaded:
- The amendment is processed and listed below the main document
- Its file name is replaced by an AI-generated title
- A signature date is extracted (editable)
- Clicking the amendment title collapses/expands a generated description
Amendments are listed from newest to oldest.
Note on hierarchy:
A bundle always follows this structure:
- Main document (contract)
- Amendments, sorted by signature date (newest at the top)
To avoid documents being grouped in a bundle, upload them independently without adding them as amendments.
You can preview either the main document or an amendment using the right-hand viewer.
