In a data view, you can configure color highlighting within text fields to help visually distinguish key information, such as status or priority values. Per field, you can create up to five values and assign colors to them.
Add Color Highlighting in Data Views
- On the Build page of your application, click on your data view to access the data view configuration page. There, navigate to the FIELDS tab.
- You will find a Gear icon next to each field. Click this icon to access the advanced field configuration modal.
- A less opaque cog icon indicates that this field is a type other than text and therefore cannot be configured at this time. A cog icon with a blue circle in the top-right corner indicates that this field has already been configured.
- In the Value field, define up to five expected values for the text field. Create additional values by clicking on + Add known value.
- In the Color field, type a hex color code or click on the field to select a color using your browser’s color picker.
- You can delete a value using the trash can icon .
- Click Done to confirm your configuration. You can preview the changes in the data view preview.
- Click the blue Save button to make your changes available in your published data views (Test and Live).
If you have enabled the Allow end users to edit data option, end users (when editing in a published data view) will be able to select the preconfigured values directly from a dropdown in the respective data view field column.
If an unknown value was already set, it will be shown as a disabled option in the dropdown.
Technical Limitations
- This feature is only supported in text fields at the moment.
- You can define a maximum of five expected values and colors per field.
