Use Send Email actions to send automated emails with attachments including, e.g., generated or uploaded files.
You may also be interested in monitoring the status of emails sent through a BRYTER module. You can view delivery outcomes, troubleshoot, and resend emails as necessary.
Send automated emails
Add an action node to your module and choose Send email. Enter up to 50 recipients’ email addresses into the To field. Alternatively, you can reference a collection of email addresses, and the email will be sent to all valid email addresses contained in the collection.
Use the CONTENT field to format the content of your email and equip it with a subject in the Subject field. Note that in all fields in the Send Email action, you can reference variables.
To configure your email further, use the following optional settings by clicking on > More options: Cc, Bcc, From name, Reply to:
-
Cc: Enter a recipient's email address and send a so-called carbon copy to keep them in the loop. Recipients in this field will be visible to each other and to the main recipient.
-
Bcc: Enter a recipient's email address and send a so-called blind carbon copy. Recipients in this field will not be visible to each other, the main recipient, or any Cc'ed recipients.
-
From name: By default, your email will be sent from [Your_Tenant_Name] via BRYTER. Populate the From name field to display a more appropriate sender name to recipients.
Please note that it is not possible to enter an email address in the From name field. -
Reply to: Emails in the Send Email action are always sent from the email address no-reply@bryter.io (or similar). However, you can configure which email address the end user reply should be sent to. Enter the recipient email address for the reply into the Reply to field.
-
Attach files: In this section, a list displays with all files that were potentially generated or uploaded in the paths above the Send Email action. Select the boxes to determine which files should be attached to your email.
Known limitations
-
Emails in the Send Email action are always sent from the email address no-reply@bryter.io (or similar) – this cannot be modified.
-
When including tables in Send Email action nodes, some formatting elements (e.g., borders) might not be displayed.
-
Attachments can be up to 20 MB in size. If the combined size of all uploaded files exceeds 7 MB, they will be provided as hyperlinks. Files under 7 MB are attached directly.
Even after the hyperlink expires, module collaborators can still access files via the module statistics (unless you have opted to limit the storage of user answers via module publishing configurations or a data retention policy). - Please note that the message body size is limited to 10 MB. This limitation does not include attachments; the constraints for attachments remain as mentioned above.
Occasionally asked questions
The attachment might have been deleted due to the deletion schedule in the data retention policy or if you have opted-out of collecting module data for statistics by enabling the option Limit storage of user answers in your module publishing configurations.
If you have configured multiple recipients in the Reply to field, BRYTER will display the no-reply@bryter.io (or similar) email address in your email program. This behavior is intentional and prioritizes security by concealing recipient information.
Prior to the update on July 10, 2024, if you had configured multiple recipients in the Reply to field, BRYTER would display the no-reply@bryter.io (or similar) email address in your email program. This behavior was intentional and prioritized security by concealing recipient information.
For any Send email actions configured before this date, you will notice that the recipients list or collection variable has been moved into the Bcc field.
For any new Send email actions, entering the recipient list in the To field will enable recipients to see each other's information.

- Note that if you send an email to a collection of email addresses, the emails sent will not be personalized. To send personalized emails to a group of recipients, make sure both the data to personalize the email and the recipients’ email addresses are stored in a collection. Then, use a Batch Process action with a Send Email action in the child module to draft the email and automate sending.
- You can monitor the status of emails sent through each module on the BRYTER platform, view delivery outcomes, troubleshoot, and resend emails as necessary.
