What is scroll assist?
Scroll assist is a visual aid or widget that will indicate if further content or inputs exists on a page when scrolling down. This widget ensures that end users can navigate to the end of a page or screen if it is enabled in the published module configuration.
Why is scroll assist useful?
With scroll assist enabled, end-users immediately see that more content is available further down the page. This decreases the possibility of accidentally selecting "Next" and missing out on optional inputs or being unable to proceed due to missing answers.
How to enable scroll assist
The scroll assist can be enabled or disabled in the published module configuration located in the publication suite of the specific module. Authors can enter the publication suite by selecting the blue "🚀 Publish" button. Then select "⚙️ Configure" in the right-hand side corner. A popup will appear with a switch that can be toggled on or off.
Note on legacy behavior
Previously, scroll assist was located in the themes editor which is only available to admins in the Admin Console. It has since been moved to the publication suite which is beneficial for two reasons:
- Previously, admins had to duplicate themes to make minor changes, for example, showing or hiding a progress bar. Now, authors are able to set these configurations for their specific module themselves. This cuts down on the number of themes, therefore preventing confusion when selecting a theme.
- It also reduces communication overhead between admins and authors as it eliminates a further communication step.
❗ Please note that the font, color, and size of the scroll assist widget cannot be edited and will not automatically adapt to the typography or colors in the theme builder.
