What is auto-generate fields?
Auto-generate allows authors to inspect their modules easily and quickly by generating mock inputs for certain features, such as databases.
When using Inspect mode, some features differ from a published module:
- Email actions will not send emails
- Integrations will not execute
- Case databases cannot be read from or written to
- When these nodes are encountered in Inspect mode, an author must specify placeholder data to use for this Inspect session, simulating what would be returned by these nodes.
Random data can be automatically generated for an individual field or an entire node via the magic wand icon. This is useful as an author wishes to proceed quickly through a module to test its flow but is not concerned with accurate data from these nodes.
How to auto-generate fields in databases
When reaching a database node in Inspect mode, authors can choose to fill all fields with temporary mock values by clicking on the magic wand icon and saving these values. If an author wishes, they can check the box marked "Always auto-generate all fields for integrations and databases". This will allow authors to skip these nodes in the inspector preview and automatically generate random data for each node's fields in the module.
To disable this feature, click on a previous action and uncheck this option.
